Annual Student Art & Philosophy symposiuM
SPRING 2015 - NonPolitical in nature - THEME: "TIPIS, COSMOS, & HERMENEUTICS" / registration: US$5 AT THE DOOR
Contemporary Kantian discourse lexicology seemingly continues to flood countless realms of philosophical inquiry and colloquy where invited - irregardless of elocution or conversant levels and notwithstanding debatable truisms (however widely accepted the latter proves). Perhaps for Northern Great Plains indigenous discussion along the same lines in hermeneutics, politicizations as rant are culprit heretofore (as is necessary fashion for the times we live in confirmation of Human & Civil Rights, Indigenous Self Determination, Reclamation, etc.]. Lakota Ways is committed to steering clear of that and in the duration of its Annual Student Art & Philosophy Symposium, cheerfully welcomes the philosophical dilemmas of that quandry of chasmic divorces from. However, eminent to our symposium is discussion that breeds from ancient tribal, indigenous Northern Great Plains thought (outside of common social/political tendencies found in modern parley, tribal offices, newspaper editorials, over coffee, etc.). The first of its kind for the local Northern Great Plains region tribal, indigenous discussion will be held in the Spring 2015. Herein, discussions are grounded in more ancient knowledge contained by our very own local, regional tribal Elders. Such is the case with these found in photographs and playable media on this very website page. The first theme for our Spring 2015 Student Art & Philosophy Symposium is, "TIPIS, COSMOS, & HERMENEUTICS". And while this appears strictly as PHILOSOPHY in scope, indeed it must be tied to ART as well with equal or more sophistication. All Northern Great Plains tribal indigenous of all ages are welcome, yet as the symposium title states, the meeting is more student oriented, and by way of Adult, collegiate levels. Children are invited as we envision entire families hearing, listening, discussing tribal sophistications and philosophies for wakanyeja to bask in, remember. Attendees should expect open discussion, back and forth, between themselves and the inquiree should they ask a question. Cliche social/political leanings in the nature of the questions will not be entertained. PLEASE RETURN TO THIS PAGE FOR MORE DEVELOPING DETAILS.

Itancan Albert White Hat, Sr. continues to put forth thinking and UNthinking in the WoLakota for Northern Great Plains tribal, indigenous moderns - even etymologically. Click to watch this and other YouTube videos of his archived lectures of the same above.

Itancan Wilmer Mesteth shares his version of WICAHPI HINHAPAYA: THE LAKOTA STORY OF FALLEN STAR BOY which inspired the first LAKOTA WAYS' theatrical production based on informed tribal Elder knowledge through traditional Lakota oral storytelling. In this presentation form, local Natives teach themselves and others (Reservation families and children). ALL learn in exciting new ways the ancient stories most in our Native community never knew before. As a result, oral traditions are not lost once tribal Elders pass onto the next life, discussions of great sophistication are bred, and a positive, re-electrifying of tribal, indigenous ancient culture, knowledge, language, protocols, and practices occurs.
