LAKOTA WAYS introduces MIYETM (formerly named Chikala) - a young Oglala Lakota girl living on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation. Miye tries her best to never miss out on any traditional ceremonies as she looks forward to her own Ishnati and Throwing of the Ball one day. She absolutely loves hearing about the proper ways of Lakota Tree Girl from her mom, dad, and grandparents.

 

She always thinks to herself, "Once a Lakota Tree Girl, always a Lakota Tree Girl".

 

Her favorite super hero from traditional Lakota stories is Wicahpi Hinhpaya because he is very honorable and never selfish. And her favorite language to speak is Lakota - both her parents and grandparents are fluent, and Miye is, too.
